Eastern Distributor Road, Phase 1 – Newport

Works comprised the first phase reconstruction and realignment of the existing dual carriageway to form a new local road from Long Ditch Roundabout to a newly reconstructed roundabout on land formerly owned by Tata Steel.

Works Undertaken

  • upgrade of the dual carriageway known as Queensway Meadows – This upgrade included cold milling of 40mm of surfacing and replacement with 100mm DBM, some full depth reconstruction, upgrade of street lighting, replacement of existing linear drainage and landscaping works.
  • Construction was within close proximity to industrial services and required facilitating the steel works and other resident traffic within the site and the surrounding area.

Works include partial reconstruction of pavement, drainage construction and realignment, demolition of a single storey weighbridge office, upgrade of the dual carriageway known as Queensway Meadows.
