Coity By-Pass

 
 

The project is located to the south west of the village of Coity in Bridgend, South Wales and involved the construction of a single carriageway bypass to the village of Coity and Parc Derwen Infrastructure Works.  The bypass contract also incorporated a major drainage link together with drainage refurbishment works along Main Avenue.

The Welsh Assembly Government entailed the bypass road to be built to ease the traffic for the proposed development area.

The works included:

  • Approximately 1.2km of new single carriageway, 7.3-10m carriageway, 2m footways, 2.5m verges
  • Two signal controlled junctions
  • Two at grade roundabouts
  • New street lighting
  • New street furniture, traffic signs and road markings
  • New surface water drainage system with attenuation and outfalls to existing system/watercourse
  • New foul gravity drainage system with outfall into existing sewer system
  • Provision of landscape mitigation measures
  • Bus gate provision to the village
  • Provision of utility diversions and a new service corridor to the adjacent development site
  • Cycleways
