- Excavation for and full construction of a 2 lane link road through the central island, linking the A449 (southbound) with the M4 (westbound) on-slip
- Excavation for and full construction of a dedicated slip lane between the M4 (westbound) off-slip and the A48 Southern Distributor Road (SDR), including the construction of a splitter island
- Widening of the A449 (southbound) approach to the junction including accommodating a splitter island
- Realignment of the B4273 (eastbound approach to the junction, including enlarging the splitter island
- Widening of the A48 SDR (northbound) approach to the junction
- Erection of a 35m long steel gantry across both carriageways of the A449
- Construction of a 3.5m wide footway alongside the A48 (southbound)
