Hawarden - Manor Lane Improvements

The scheme included construction of a roundabout at the junction of Manor Lane with the B5125, a notorious accident black-spot, together with the construction of 700m of 7.3m carriageway, including the foundation for a future right turn filter lane to allow development of adjacent land.

Construction was all on-line, innovative traffic management allowed the Works to be completed without recourse to the planned road closure, thereby minimising disruption to the heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic to the adjacent Airbus factory, Arriva Bus Depot and Hawarden Park Industrial Estate.

Road-works comprised Earthworks (16,000 T Excavation and removal to tip, 7,000T imported fill), deep drainage, carriageway construction, footpath/ cycleway construction, street lighting, road marking, traffic signing and soft landscaping and hedging.

Value Engineering implemented on the scheme included thrust boring a 60m drainage outfall under an existing roundabout to minimise disruption to road-users, and the recycling of existing road-stone in the permanent works.
