Little Mill Juction Modification

| The scheme was carried out on behalf of the South Wales Trunk Road Agency under the S.W.T.R.A. Highways Maintenance Framework Contract. Little Mill Junction is situated on the A4042, the Cwmbran to Abergavenny Road approximately 2 miles north of Pontypool at the intersection into Little Mill village. The works required a number of traffic management systems to enable the traffic to be reduced from a dual carriageway down to a single carriageway whilst maintaining an exit/entry slip into the village and a crossover from the opposite carriageway. This was necessary as works were carried out in both lanes. The traffic management design was carried out by our Project Management team following consultation with the local Traffic Liaison Officer from South Wales Police. The main works involved the removal of existing kerbs, laying new kerbs in between lanes to create a central island. Construct a new bus lane within the existing central island, resurface the existing junctions with high friction anti-skid surfacing, the application of new road markings and the installation of illuminated road signs which required duct work and associated electrical works. The scheme took 7 weeks to complete. |
